Looking around

Abi had a habit of looking around.

Whenever she and the family would be out anywhere and around other people, Abi would slowly and subtly glance around in every direction, keeping an eye on everything going on. She wouldn't really stay focused or lost in thought on one particular sight or person. She was like a security guard, monitoring the premises.

Of course, at one point Jared made it his business to ask, “Abi… why do you always look around?”

To his surprise, Abi wasn't the least bit confused by the question. She thought about it for just a moment.

“To make sure nobody is in trouble,” she replied.

There wasn’t much more to say. It checked out. Jared wanted to know and he got his answer.  ❐
