When Jared screamed

One quiet afternoon, Jared and Audrey were hanging out at home alone, watching TV in the family room.

Jared left the room and made his way down the hallway. It was then that Audrey heard a blood-curdling scream.

In that moment, she wasn't scared, necessarily. She didn't panic. Something had happened and she knew she would have to take some kind of action. For protection, she grabbed the TV remote and held it up at the ready.

What had actually happened was that as Jared walked by the front door, he caught a sudden glimpse of someone standing right in their doorway, scaring him half to death. It turned out to be the letter carrier.  ❐
