Jared thought “thrilled” meant “throw up”

As a youngster, Jared inexplicably believed that the word “thrilled” was related to “throw up.”

Granny in particular was known for telling stories and often described times she felt “thrilled.” Jared assumed she was saying that she was so overcome with emotion (whether positive or negative) that she made herself vomit from it... for whatever reason.

While the idea may have been horrifying, the way adults used the word was so casual and lighthearted that Jared knew it must've been all right.

To this day, Jared can't explain why he confused the two words, and there aren't any other words that he ever confused that way.   ❐
