Teewees in the car

Teewees in the car was Jared and Audrey's concept of riding in the car without shoes or socks on. It was both a phrase and accompanying little song they would sing out with delight whenever their parents allowed them to take off their footwear on a car trip.

“Can we have teewees in the car?” one of them would ask, using their made-up word for toes and/or feet.

They'd only be permitted to take off their shoes on long trips, so naturally they saw it as a bit of a treat.

“Teewees in the car, teewees in the car!” they sang as they wiggled their legs up and down from the back seat.

The word “teewees” was sometimes pronounced as if there was a subtle O sound after “tee.” Oddly, the term was only used in this very specific context of car rides, and not anywhere else in life.   ❐
